Director | Cameras
There are three “mode” type cameras:
- Practice
- Qualifying
- Intro
There are also three “track” type cameras:
- Scenic
- Pits
- Start/Finish
Then, there are five “car” type cameras, which are also used as part of the “AutoCam” camera set:
- Inside
- Close
- Medium
- Far
- Very Far
And finally, we have six “custom” type cameras, which are “Custom 1” through “Custom 6”.
The “AutoCam” camera type that will automatically switch between the inside, close, medium, far, and very far camera types depending on how close other cars are to the driver.
For each camera type, you can specify a list of iRacing camera groups to use with that type. If there is only one camera group listed for a camera type, then it will always use that camera group whenever that camera type is active. If there are multiple camera groups listed for a camera type, then the director will randomly choose one of them each time the target driver changes.
Camera groups are listed with a comma separating each one. If the iRacing simulator is running then you can click on the button with the camera icon, to have it show a list of available camera groups for the current track running in the simulator.
Some camera groups, such as the “spectator” or “tv3” camera groups, are not available to every track. So, it is a good idea to list multiple camera groups for each camera type, just in case your favorite camera group is not available.
